Graphic Briefings should not be confused with other, less comprehensive publications!

Why should you choose Graphic Briefings?

How many hopeful but apprehensive candidates approach the Part 3 Test worrying that they may forget, with the stress of a very intensive exam, one or more of the vital details in the Pre-set Tests, and fail?

How many PDIs and new ADIs are concerned that their lack of experience will be obvious to the client and as a result will be asked the dreaded question,‘ For how long have you been a driving instructor?’

How many ADIs can be totally confident that at the end of every lesson that they have definitely covered all the safety aspects and driving issues?

How many ADIs worry that they are ill prepared for their Check Test?

How many ADIs wrestle, lesson after lesson, with magnetic boards, toy cars and marker pens - endlessly drawing the same cryptic shapes on laminated road layouts - finishing up with messy, illegible drawings that are so poor and uninspiring, that the client is half asleep?

Graphic Briefings help solve these problems!

Not only do Graphic Briefings help the instructor to put the points across swiftly and easily!

Not only do Graphic Briefings hold the client’s attention and enable them to quickly understand the ADIs instruction!

But crucially, and we believe uniquely, Graphic Briefings also help ensure that the ADI won't forget all those many important details and safety aspects that are within the Part 3 Test or a driving lesson, or later during the Check Test! In other words – Graphic Briefings provide key support for the ADI!

After passing the Part 3 Test with a score of 5:5 the Supervising Examiner remarked to one of our trainee ADIs that the Graphic Briefings were the best set of briefing notes he had ever seen!

It can't be stressed enough that Graphic Briefings are not only highly recommended for normal driving lessons but they are also the perfect tool for the Part 3 Test!

If you want to see why, please read more about the unique Graphic Briefing System below.

*90 pages in one full set of 7 volumes. Link to order form available below.

Graphic Briefings - the format

A set of Graphic Briefings consist of:

7 individual books covering the12 lesson subjects. Each book is made up from sturdy laminated A4 pages containing the computer graphics* and wire bound.

Plus a 32 page (A4) bound book of Graphic Briefing Notes** explaining how the instructor should use each picture. (NB. Much of the information contained in the illustrations is self-evident (see diagram) but the notes will ensure that the instructor is aware of everything, including some of the more subtle points.)

*Graphics - The prints are supplied to us by an independent and high quality commercial printing firm.

Graphic Briefings - the Unique system

Each lesson uses illustrations explaining the subject in a colourful and clear manner that most clients of any age, capability or ethnic background should find easy to understand.

Example, Graphic Briefing - Turning Right.

Included in the ‘Turning Right’ illustration (see below) there is a warning sign for a hill. This will remind the ADI to mention how a hill, up or down, can affect the speed of approaching traffic. Another example, amongst the many, is a pedestrian to prompt the ADI to explain that a pedestrian shall have priority here.

Remember that the client does not see the notes on the left of the picture

In order to facilitate quick loading, the picture quality and size is nowhere near the normal GB standards.

If you read the extract from the Graphic Briefing Notes* on the illustration above you will see how they bring the picture to life.

ADIs will be able to look over the illustrations, as they deliver the lesson, pick out these clues and explain them to their client as they talk.

The client, being unaware of how this works, will be comfortable in the knowledge that they are receiving a confident, seamless and professional briefing from someone who knows their subject!

Not only will Graphic Briefings help the ADI trainee to pass the Pt3 Test but Graphic Briefings will then go on to play a major part in making their life as a driving instructor much easier and more successful. This investment in a quality product should last for years.

**Graphic Briefing Notes. Each volume is accompanied by a set of notes to explain how each illustration should be viewed. Throughout, there are colour-coded symbols (common to all illustrations) to aid understanding and delivery of the system. Once the notes have been read, and understood, they can be discarded. ADIs will then use the graphics alone to give a polished and fluent briefing.

You will have invested time and money in training to be an ADI. For your final test make sure that you invest in the best!

Graphic Briefings - Product History

Graphic Briefings were developed, refined and tested over a 12-month period, using DSA ADIs, PDIs and their pupils, before being made available to the driver instructor industry.

The first set, printed in the year 2000, consisted of six volumes. During 2003 the set was expanded to seven, which now include two more subjects - Signalling and The Emergency Stop. In 2005 and again in 2009 the pictures were updated and small adjustments were carried out to clarify some minor points.

Graphic Briefings shouldn't be confused with other, less comprehensive publications.

Graphic Briefings have been on the market for almost a decade now and are being successfully used by many satisfied ADIs and PDIs throughout the United Kingdom. This we know from the very encouraging and positive feedback that we have received from them. We also know their worth from valuable first hand experience as we use them in our every day lessons and the training of ADIs.

Graphic Briefings were conceived and developed by Paul Pearson (DSA ADI), in association with Colin Crane (Dip. Ed.; DSA ADI; RoSPA Gold;)

Over the last 10 years the sales of Graphic Briefings  have relied entirely on this website and by word of mouth recommendations from satisfied customers.
