Driving School Pro Logbooks

Don't forget to order your copy of How to Become an Approved Driving Instructor and set up your own driving school

The DSPro  Logbooks, will help you build up and maintain, that essential local market lead for you and your driving school.

The logbooks can be given free to your clients or (as a suggestion) you could charge a deposit that would be returnable after 30 hours or when the client passes the test. Alternatively you can sell them. Most clients will appreciate having a record of their progress and will accept it as reasonable to be charged (say £5 - £7) to cover the costs and administration of the logbooks.

If you order 20 logbooks, post free, you could make a profit of between £20 and £60.

If you gained just one more extra customer from your use of the DSPro Logbook, think what the profit margin would be then!

Don't forget that your clients will talk to others about their driving lessons and about you, their driving instructor. They will show their friends at school or college and their relatives at home, the logbook that you have provided. This Logbook will put you and your driving school, in a class above the rest!

When you order the DSPro  Logbook you can have your name or your driving school name added to the cover - at no extra cost and post free!

Logbooks are essential driving school records.

It is unlikely that a busy ADI or PDI, will be able to remember every detail of a client's last lesson, and may even end up quizzing the client about, 'what did we do last time?'  This approach is very unprofessional and clients will be less than impressed with their instructor's apparent lack of interest! Clients will expect their driving instructor to remember everything about them and remember not only their last lesson, but about all their previous lessons.

Your clients are entitled to believe that they are special and with the aid of the DSPro Logbook you will demonstrate that they are!

The Logbook contains a record of every lesson. Under the guidance of the driving instructor the client will enter comments in their own Logbook at the end of each session. The driving instructor will keep a mirror copy in his/her own file (see the Free Downloads Section for 'Client's Comments' pages) .

As you would anticipate, the  DSPro Logbook is far more than just that!

In a handy A5 format the logbook contains approximately 30 printed pages, with sturdy covers and bound by a plastic comb.

Included in the Logbook:

  1. The Bullet Points of each lesson. These will enable the customer to refresh their knowledge after the driving lessons and to prime themselves before the next lesson.

  2. A Double-sided Progress Chart. This page is printed on card and will show at a glance, which number-coded subjects have been covered and the progress made on those individual subjects. It will also inform you by colour coding, when to issue a post-lesson test paper. (See the Free Downloads Section to receive your free Test Papers.)

  3. Comments Pages. These twelve pages, with enough space for fifty lessons, not only contain the comments from each session, but also include the date and time for the next lesson. (Just this one item alone could pay for the Logbook. It has been found that when client's themselves write the next appointment time in their own Logbook, the 'missed appointment' record improves markedly!) Additional data on these pages, include information about test papers issued and details of the next lesson subject. (The customer can read the bullet points in the Logbook, and arrive prepared.)

  4. A Snapshot Page. This page measures the client's specific and general progress, under test conditions, using the 'Subject Mini Tests' and 'Mock Tests' charts. It also includes a table for the ADI to mark-off any local junctions and areas that need to be visited before the driving test.

  5. Tell Me/Show Me.  This uses all the questions and responses with added information to make sure that your clients know fully how to maintain the safety of their vehicles.

  6. Test Page. This page informs the client about how to book the tests, including space to insert your ADI number to prevent the driving school car being double-booked.

  7. DSA Compatible. The Logbook includes all the topics (plus several more), listed in the DSA's 'Driver's Record', which is sent out to everyone applying for a provisional driving licence. If the customer successfully completes the Logbook, the ADI can sign the Declaration of Test Readiness. This is part of the Driver's Record for the customer to present to the examiner.

Free Test Papers: The logbook chart, see below, is colour coded The blue sections; Cockpit Drill, Turning, Emerging etc. have associated test papers. You can download these for free from the Free Downloads section.

First impressions do count so what better way to start the Check Test than to present the Senior Examiner with a full and systematic record of your client's progress? This will demonstrate to the S.E. your commitment to your profession and your commitment to your client!

We have now been marketing these logbooks for over five years and our regular customers keep asking for more - and that speaks for itself!

The Logbooks will demonstrate that, not only are you interested in your clients and that you are committed to getting them to their test as soon as possible, but you are also one of the more professional driving schools in your area.

DSPro Logbooks will give your business that vital extra edge over your rivals. Remember that recommendations are the best way and the most rewarding way to get new clients. Your new clients will also tell others about the professional way in which you carry out your business - so expanding your business!

More recommendations = more clients = the more you can charge a realistic fee for your services!

LESSON 8. Roundabouts

Approach Routine = M-S-P-S/G-L

Rules -

1. In most cases give way to traffic approaching from the right.

2. Keep in your lane: on the approach, whilst negotiating and exiting the roundabout. 3.Make sure that you signal correctly and at the right time!

Scan - Scan continuously, don’t gaze in just one direction, and keep an eye on the vehicle in front of you. Watch for signals from vehicles approaching, or already on the roundabout. Look at the other vehicle’s positions on the roundabout. Look where their wheels are pointing and where the driver is looking. Look for vehicles ‘shutting the door’ and any other helpful events (e.g. pedestrian crossings).
